FAMILY TIES OUTREACH PROGRAM

Family Ties is a perinatal program open to all Westcoast parents from Tofino, Ucluelet, Hitacu, Opitsat, Esowista and Ty-Histanis. Expectant and new parents can call the office directly, ask their Doctor or speak with the Public/Community Health Nurse to receive services. We are committed to strengthening and supporting all birthing families on the west coast.

We offer a weekly drop in with topics ranging from healthy nutrition, to childbirth, parenting your new baby and the latest in health news. Guest speakers include the Community Nutritionist, Dental Hygienist, Infant Development workers and other resource people. Participants can receive free pre-natal vitamins, individual nutrition information, and home visits if requested.

They will help you get the information you need to manage your health concerns or those of your family. Available 24 hours. Call to speak to a Nurse 24/7 about non-emergency health concerns. Pharmacists are available 5:00pm - 9:00pm. Dietitians are available 8:00am - 8:00pm Monday to Thursday, 8:00am - 5:00pm Fridays.

Promotes healthy development for pregnancy, infants and children (ages 0-6) through home and community visits. We offer:

 health promotion and support for women who are pregnant or have infants in their home

 support to families whose children may be at risk for developmental delays

 infant and child development screening

 consultation support to childcare programs and caregivers to meet children’s individual needs

 support and advocacy for families to access services for their children and family

 strength-based parenting skill development
